My name is Aryanna Islam and I am running for the West Virginia House of Delegates (District 50). I’ve proudly called Marion County my home for all 20 years of my life and have been a proud product of the East side public education system. I graduated from East Fairmont High School in 2018 and am currently pursuing degrees in Political Science and Addiction Studies at WVU. Go Mountaineers!
West Virginia’s beauty is not only in its mountains, streams, and valleys but also in its people. We have a long labor history whether that be coal miner unions, teacher unions, or all the strikes in between. That is what makes us who we are and I want to make sure we don’t lose that special quality. This beloved state is facing multiple crises. We are battling an opioid epidemic, crumbling infrastructure, and a mass exodus of people from the state. I’m running to ensure that people like me who want to stay here can have the option. It’s disheartening to see so many good people leave because of the failed leadership in Charleston.
We need a revitalization of West Virginia. We need to take care of the addicted, the poverty stricken, and the teacher. We need a state that is going to work for all of us and we need to work towards taking West Virginia from 50th to 1st. I want a state where a student can afford to pursue a degree, practice a trade, and just have a glimmer of hope for the future. I want a state where workers anywhere on the ladder can make a decent living, people can get the help they need to battle their addiction, and the elderly get the care they deserve.
This is a campaign for all.
